Founding Creative Director | The Lobby Conference | 2007-2011

Menlo Park, CA

The Lobby Conference, a private annual event for business leaders in digital media and venture capital. David Hornik, with whom I was co-hosting our podcast VentureCast, conceived the conference and asked me to join him in polishing out the final details of the experience of the conference and provide creative direction and brand identity. For the first five years of the conference, I also designed and produced all the branded swag, signage and printed materials. This work is one of which I am most proud. The logo I designed was actually in two orientations, horizontal and vertical, to better integrate it within the context of its placement. As David wanted each year's conference to have a sub-theme, I set the branding guidelines accordingly, making them flexible enough to allow for the theme to influence the look of the brand rather than vice-versa. The conference is in its 17th year and still going strong.

First Year Teaser Video

Video sent to the first invitees for the inaugural Lobby Conference in 2007. The format of the video follows the visual and pacing style of my videogrunt podcasts at the time, combined with the similar audio format of the VentureCast podcast I was producing and co-hosted with David Hornik (the difference is that for this video, our audio conversation, which was normally unscripted for our podcasts, was scripted at the parts where we were in sync with the "man at presentation board" shots.)

SECOND Year INTRO Video

For the second year of the conference we asked all participants to make an introductory video about themselves, all of which were loaded into an iPod that was mailed to each person a week before. This was mine, which I created in Apple Motion.
